Bloomsburg Field Hockey Beats Bellarmine

INDIANA, PA --The Bloomsburg University field hockey team won its ninth straight game with a 2-1 win over Bellarmine of Kentucky in a non-conference game played at Indiana (PA) University. Chelsea Due (Pen Argyl/Pen Argyl) led the Huskies with a goal and an assist in the game.

Bloomsburg got on the board first when Ashley Heckard (Millerstown/Greenwood) scored off a Due assist 4:50 left to go in the first half of play.

The Huskies made it 2-0 at the 39:53 mark when Due scored off an assist from Jamie Vanartsdalen (Huntington Valley/Lower Moreland). Bellarmine, which made 13 defensive saves in the game along with 17 from goalie Kristen Thomas, finally got on the boar at the 52:05 mark. Sarah Rainey scored with the assist going to Sloane Hubboch.

Bloomsburg, 9-0, will host East Stroudsburg on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Sports Stadium.
